Three sales, Three homes

My first month as an artist has been awesome, beyond my expectations! I sold three pieces in my first three weeks since launching my website. Thank you so much everyone for the support and love, and for making my first month a success.

My long term goal in selling art this year is to fund the planting of 1,000 trees in 2020. I’ve found a grower who can sell them to me in bulk for $1 a tree. That’s equivalent to selling about 25 pieces of art in the next year. That’s a totally reachable goal and I’m off to a great start!

In addition to setting goals, I also love direct and immediate results. So in honor of those three art sales, I’ve hung three new birdhouses in the wildlife sanctuary.

These houses serve as the annual nesting sites of tree swallows and relieve competition with other cavity nesting species.

In the forest, as older trees die and reach the end of their life cycle, birds and animals hollow out nests in the soft dry trunk. But as more and more old growth forests are harvested for lumber, fewer trees make it to this mature stage. Artificial nesting sites like these birdhouses help extend the range of breeding habitats.

So to my first three art collectors, the birds and I, thank you.
